The little hip hoppers also work on basic tumbling/break dancing & strength building techniques that will help with harder break dancing in the future. Lots of fun for girls but very popular with little boys! Hip Hop/Tumbling Wednesday 10:00 – 11:00am Studio 1 *Tumbling (ages 6 +) This class is for students who want to learn tumbling skills starting with forward rolls and handstands to eventually round off triple back hand springs, back tuck. This class is so essential for dancers wanting to learn tricks. The class starts with a warm up & stretching followed by core and muscle strengthening, tumbling instruction & spotting. Skill level testing will take place the last week of every month. Students must pass off each level with the instructor before they move on to the next. Note: Tumbling is solely based on skill level not age. This class starts with a jazzy warm-up & Stretching followed by Ballet, Jazz technique & terminology + turns & leaps floor combos and inspiring, stylized choreography. We emphasize musicality and body alignment. These dancers perform one Lyrical/Ballet dance and one Jazz dance. Hip Hop Ages 6 – 9 Monday 5:00 – 6:00 Studio 3 Hip Hop Ages 10 + Monday 4:00 – 5:00 Studio 3 *Break dance (ages 6 +) In this breakdance class the students start with a fun warm up followed by strength building, break dance technique and terminology, some tumbling and fun break dance choreography. *Kids Ballroom (ages 6 +) performing class These students learn at least 2 different ballroom styles per dance season which varies each year. Boys and girls working together as partners helps them learn to cooperation and to have respect for each other and their space. They learn ballroom technique, fun choreography and perform to fun new age music. Ballroom A Ages 8 – 11 Wednesday 4:30 – 5:30 Studio 2 Ballroom B Ages 12 + Wednesday 3:30 – 4:30 Studio 2 *Youth Musical Theatre (ages 6 - 18) Vocal, Dance & Acting. These amazing performers put on a complete musical with acting, singing, Broadway choreography, set and props performed in their own special show. They also get to perform one of their musical routines in the studio recital in Dec and May. Performers have the opportunity twice a year to go to a recording studio and record their voices for the recital for a fee of $25. This is something the students look forward to all year. *NOTE – The costume fee is often times split up between a few different costumes and props for that student because it is very specific to that character. Sometime the students will be asked wear or bring some simple things from home to make up the difference. The Ballet Technique class is open to all students but require for ALL team members. Ballet placement solely depends on what skill level your dancer is at and will be determined by the director or teacher. They also get the chance to compete in 3 competitions in the months of March, April & May along with inspiring workshops. We at Steps Strongly encourage good sportsmanship; being positive, respect of others talents & working as a team. These students learn how to work hard for something, never give up and reap the much earned rewards which includes confidence in themselves. Because of the dedication and all the opportunities available to the students through being a part of our Steps Company these dancers traditionally grow in their dance and performing ability at a fast pace. Teams are made up of a combination between skill level and age. Auditions are at the end of May or you can contact Susan Crowther to set up a private audition. Team classes start in the middle of August. Each class couple receives ballroom style descriptions and a cd with music for each style you learned. This is given out at the end of the session as a souvenir so you can practice. Classes start the First of January. This is a great Christmas gift for your loved one. *Ladies (age 18 +) performing class (For anyone ages 18 and up – beginning and intermediate levels) This class includes warm-up, Stretching, jazz/ballet, hip hop technique & choreography. All music students perform at least one number in the end of the season music recital. *Vocal (age 6 +) performing class In this class the students learn different singing styles and work on songs from the styles they are most interested in. Students learn vocal warm ups that they can do at home and focus on pitch, correct vocal techniques, rhythm as well as presence and performing techniques. All vocal students are encouraged to develop a binder with 3 songs including a 16 bar auditions piece, resume & headshot they can take to an audition if they desire. This class will help build their confidence so they can reach for the stars! *Piano (age 6 +) performing class In this class students will learn the Suzuki piano method which helps de Scott Moore graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in music where He studied the piano and voice. He has been teaching students of all ages for years and loves it. Scotts approach to piano teaching combines the benefits of Suzuki method with other musical techniques. Suzuki repertoire helps students to understand musical language by imitating the sound and technique. focusing first in note identification which ultimately leads to proficiency in sight reading. The thing that will keep your child at the piano bench more than anything is the feeling of satisfaction while their skills improve and they gain confidence with their new talent in hand. *Guitar (age 6 +) performing class (For anyone ages 18 and up – beginning We share our love of music by teaching students how to play guitar using an organized, friendly and motivating approach that will allow them to enjoy their talent for a lifetime.
